Technical FAQ

Questions Engineers & Buyers Ask

Straight answers from our engineering team -- no marketing fluff.

What is the minimum order quantity for custom coated glass?
For standard substrates (soda-lime, borosilicate) with single-type coatings, our MOQ starts at 50 pieces for prototyping and 200 pieces for production runs. Sapphire and fused silica substrates may require a minimum of 20 pieces due to material cost. We're flexible for R&D validation phases -- contact us to discuss your specific ramp schedule.
Can you match a specific wavelength range for our AR coating?
Yes. Our PVD coating system allows precise control over layer thickness and material composition, enabling custom AR optimization across UV (200-380 nm), visible (400-700 nm), NIR (700-1100 nm), or broadband ranges. Please specify your center wavelength, bandwidth, and target reflectance in your RFQ. We'll provide a simulated spectral curve before committing to production.
What documentation do you provide with each shipment?
Every production shipment includes: (1) Certificate of Conformance (CoC) with batch traceability, (2) Spectral measurement report from our spectrophotometer, (3) Dimensional inspection report (CMM data), (4) Contact angle data sheet (for AF coatings), (5) RoHS and REACH compliance declarations, and (6) Packing list with serial/lot numbering. Additional documentation -- MSDS, IPC standards, or customer-specific formats -- available on request.
How durable is the AF coating under repeated cleaning?
Our fluoropolymer AF coating is validated to >5,000 dry wipe cycles using a 500g load with a standard lens tissue -- maintaining contact angle >100° after testing. For medical applications requiring IPA or disinfectant cleaning, we offer an enhanced AF formulation tested to 1,000 cycles with 70% IPA. Hardness is 4H pencil, and the coating passes 96h salt spray without delamination.
Do you offer NDA-protected OEM/ODM partnerships?
Absolutely. We sign mutual NDAs before any technical exchange and maintain strict IP segregation between customer projects. All tooling, drawings, and coating recipes developed for your project remain your intellectual property. We've supported long-term OEM relationships with European medical device manufacturers and North American instrument companies for over a decade.
What is your typical production lead time for mass orders?
Standard production runs (200-2,000 pcs, single coating type, stock substrate) typically ship within 15-25 business days from PO confirmation. Complex multi-layer stacks or exotic substrates may require 30-40 days. We provide a detailed production schedule with milestones at order confirmation. Expedite options are available for critical-path projects -- discuss during your RFQ.
