Product Overview

What Is High-Alumina / Panda Glass -- and Why It Matters

High-alumina glass (often referred to by trade names such as "Panda Glass") is an aluminosilicate substrate that undergoes a controlled ion-exchange chemical tempering process. This replaces smaller sodium ions at the glass surface with larger potassium ions, generating a deep compressive stress layer that dramatically increases scratch resistance, drop performance, and flexural strength compared to standard soda-lime glass.

At Winson Optics, we source verified aluminosilicate substrates and process them through our Shenzhen cleanroom facility -- cutting, edging, drilling, silk-screen printing, AR/AF coating, and final 100% AOI inspection -- delivering a finished, ready-to-assemble cover glass panel precisely to your drawing.

Whether you need a small R&D prototype batch or a high-volume production run for a consumer or industrial product, our procurement-minded workflow eliminates the hidden costs and quality surprises that haunt international buyers.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions our international buyers ask most often.

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for custom High-Alumina Glass?
For prototyping and sampling, our MOQ starts at 50 pieces with a 15-day lead time. For mass production runs, MOQ is typically 500 pieces, though this varies by complexity. We encourage early-stage R&D orders -- our engineering team will advise on the most cost-effective batch size for your specific geometry.
Can you match Corning Gorilla Glass or AGC Dragontrail specifications?
We source verified aluminosilicate substrates from qualified suppliers including CDGM and Irico. While we do not brand our product as Gorilla Glass (a Corning trademark), our chemically tempered high-alumina glass achieves equivalent or superior performance metrics in hardness, flexural strength, and DOL. We can provide side-by-side test reports upon request. For projects with strict OEM substrate requirements, please specify in your RFQ.
What file formats do you accept for custom drawings?
We accept DXF, DWG, PDF, STEP, and IGES formats. For silk-screen artwork, AI (Adobe Illustrator) and high-resolution PDF are preferred. If you only have a sketch or concept, our engineering team can produce a formal drawing for your review and approval -- this is part of our standard DFM service at no additional charge for qualified projects.
How do you handle quality disputes or non-conforming shipments?
Every shipment includes a full COA with measurement data and defect photography. If a non-conformance is identified upon receipt, we request photographic evidence and initiate a formal 8D corrective action within 48 business hours. For confirmed defects caused by our manufacturing process, we offer priority re-production or credit -- your choice. Our 5-year lot traceability ensures root cause analysis is always possible.
What documentation is available for EU CE marking or FDA submissions?
We provide: COA, MSDS, RoHS 3 Declaration of Conformity, REACH SVHC Declaration, ISO 9001 Certificate, and material composition reports. For medical device customers requiring IEC 60601 or ISO 10993 biocompatibility documentation, please indicate this in your RFQ so we can prepare the appropriate substrate and documentation package. Our partner Iris has direct experience supporting EU MDR and FDA 510(k) documentation workflows.
